Train for your body shape: The Endomorph

Endomorphs are typically shorter, squatter and bigger-boned than taller and leaner ectomorphs, and adding and storing excess body fat happens far too easily. I’m an Endomorph – so, what do I do?
About You: Let’s start at the beginning. The chances are you’ve always carried a bit of extra weight, especially around the legs and belly, but you always felt quite fit and could hold your own in any sporting or athletic endeavour. The trouble is that as you get older the weight can creep up very quickly, and before you know it you’re heavier than you’ve ever been. Maybe you didn’t even really recognise your reflection when you properly looked at it. Don’t worry – you’re not alone. And there’s plenty of training tools in your locker than you can use to make a big difference to how you look and feel.

What you need to do: For you, the way to get back into shape is through a smart, simple and progressive training programme – that includes combination of lifting weights and high-intensity cardio exercise – while also keeping a closer eye on what you eat. That means more protein and vegetables, natural carbs and healthy fats, and reducing your intake of sugar, alcohol and very fatty junk and snack foods. The good news is that eating for a better body has never been easier.

The perfect plan for you is…
It’s likely you’re already carrying a decent amount of muscle so our number one goal has to be to strip that excess body fat as quickly as possible. If you’d prefer to exercise at home I’d recommend one of our two eight-week home workout programmes.
