Mesomorphs are typically naturally lean and muscular and very athletic, and have no trouble building new muscle and staying lean. But as you get older it becomes harder and harder to maintain that impressive physique, so keep reading to discover how you can train smarter to look as good today as you did at 20.
I’m an Mesomorph – so, what do I do?
About You: You’ve always been quite lean, with clearly defined muscles and the look and ability of a natural athlete. You were probably star of the school sports team and can turn your hand to any physical challenge you face. In fact, until recently you’d never worried about gaining weight, and the thought of one day not being in shape had never crossed your mind. Trouble is, nothing last forever, and as you’ve got a little older you’ve noticed some of that muscle mass slip away while nothing a few extra folds around your middle. You might not be feeling that great about yourself right now, but the good news is that your genetics are still stacked in your favour and it won’t take too much time or effort to reverse this decline so you’re back to your best before you know it.
What you need to do: You’ve always been athletically gifted and it’s this strength you need to capitalise upon – and right away. A challenging weight-training programme based around big compound lifts and intense isolation exercises will see you pack on hard muscle almost immediately, while some short and sharp high-intensity style cardio drills will strip away that burgeoning spare tyre. You know what you need to do – you just need to take that crucial first step on the road to reclaiming your physique.
